Appointments: We work by appointment, within which you will be looked after by one of our experienced fitting consultants. They will advise you on alterations needed to fit your garment well. We provide a price estimate at the end of the fitting for you to decide to proceed with the alteration. We can offer various solutions to alter your garment; some might save costs. Please ask.
*Please bring your shoes to your appointment or some with a similar heel height and undergarments to ensure we can fit your clothes perfectly.
Fittings are available in our spacious studio or for your convenience at your home address and in hotels in central London. Whatever works best for you.
Charges: Due to the many styles and finishes, it isn’t easy to provide an estimate on the phone. We need to see your garment, the inside construction, and also you wearing it. Costs for similar alterations may vary, particularly for complex, constructed dresses and heavily detailed designer wear. Our charges, alterations and fittings are based on the time at a rate of £72 per hour.
Coat Alterations & Restyling
D&A is well known for its experience and excellence in altering formal clothes. The difference a professional alteration can make to a coat is not only visible but also tangible; a feeling of being at ease with your look and natural confidence in your appearance. For your fitting appointment: To fit your coat well, we need you to bring any garments you would like to wear underneath your coat – a jacket, a heavy knitted jumper or a waistcoat. We take them into consideration when we take your measurements and perfect the alterations.
Our professional jacket and suit tailors look after our coat tailoring and ensure that any alterations will be as invisible as possible. Any original type of stitching will be continued and bindings re-applied. One of the most common alterations on coats and jackets is shortening sleeves. This can be a straight forward when the sleeve is to be shortened from the cuff. If any detail like vents, working buttonholes, embroidery or buckles are involved, we take sleeves up from the shoulders if sleeve width allows. This will take our tailors slightly longer but ensures that any detailing and proportions are maintained to keep the original look and finish.
