Coat Alterations – Men’s Wear
D&A is well known for its experience and excellence in looking after menswear alterations including coats and jackets. Depending on style and personal preference professional alterations can make a huge difference to the look as well as the feel of formal clothes. Wearing a jacket with a sharp shoulder fit, a great waistline and good sleeve length will give you a feeling of ease and confidence in your appearance. In order to fit your coat well, our advise is to bring anything you would like to wear underneath. It can be a jacket under a coat, a heavy knitted jumper or a waistcoat. We take everything into consideration when we measure you and fit and perfect your look!
‘Clothes should look and feel as if they are made for you.’
When our professional jacket and suit tailors alter your coats, they ensure that the alterations are made as invisible as possible. Original stitching and detailing is maintained, binding is re-applied. Regular coats and jackets alterations are ‘shortening sleeves’. When the sleeves have no detail, this can be straight forward. The length is taken off the cuff. If any working buttonholes, embroidery or buckles are involved, the sleeves need to be shortened from the shoulders. It will take our tailors slightly longer but ensures that any detailing and proportions are maintained to keep the original look and finish. This is important for designer and high quality wear.
Coat Alterations | shortening coat – shortening/lengthening sleeves – taking in sides – let us sides – take in center backs – narrowing shoulders – reposition pockets – restyling – restyling collars – replace coat lining – change shoulder pads
Appointments: We work by appointment, within which you will be looked after by one of our experienced fitting consultants. They will advise you on alterations needed to fit your garment well. *Please bring your shoes to your appointment or some with a similar heel height to ensure we can fit your clothes perfectly.
Fittings are available in our spacious studio or for your convenience at your home address and in hotels in central London. Whatever works best for you.
Charges: Due to the many styles and finishes, it isn’t easy to provide an estimate on the phone. We need to see your garment, the inside construction, and also you wearing it.
